Welcoming Students on Site
Bromley-by-Bow Gasworks is one of London’s largest and most complex brownfield development sites, offering a valuable opportunity for students to explore the challenges and intricacies of regenerating former industrial land.
Between October 2024 and March 2025 the team welcomed 57 university students on site, studying a range of topics from architecture to economic geography. We even had the pleasure of welcoming international students, including 22 students from University of Utrecht on a field trip to the UK exploring brownfield industrial sites.
The team also presented the project as part of ‘Open Doors’ – a week-long event for students and young professionals, delivered by Build UK – and welcomed 15 students on site from across London.
We really enjoyed meeting the students and answering their thoughtful questions. We’re also encouraged by their strong support for preserving the gasholders and celebrating the site’s history.
We look forward to welcoming more students in the future. If you or your university are interested in coming for a tour, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Please note, for health and safety reasons we can only welcome over 18s.
