Year 10 Work Experience

We hosted a week of career insights for eight year-10 students from East London Science School; giving students a chance to engage with roles across the Built Environment.

Day 1:

Introduction to Development

Discussions on the role of a Development Manager, pathways into the industry and the teams’ own career journeys. Students later engaged in a creative master planning activity to develop their own neighbourhood.

Day 2:

Biodiversity & Design

Walking tour of the Olympic Park with our landscape architects at Gillespie coupled with an introduction to designing for biodiversity & sustainability.

Day 3:

Heritage & Architecture

Visit to our heritage consultants at Montagu Evans and history tour of the Square Mile in Central London. This was followed by a visit to our architects, RSHP where students engaged in design activities based on Bromley by Bow Gasworks.

Day 4:

Digital Construction Week

A visit was arranged to Digital Construction Week at the Excel where students had a chance to experience new technologies.

Day 5:

Presentations & Feedback

Students talked us through their work over the week and provided feedback on their experience; followed by activities on further developing employability skills.
